It may have been a busy start to the year, but it shows no sign of slowing down as we sidestep the spring showers for the odd hint of sun. In fact, the Prova automotive team has been working hard to provide a press office service for the prestigious annual Niche Vehicle Network Symposium on the 19th March taking place at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon.
This event will see the likes of Morgan, Ariel, Caterham, Zytek Automotive, Agility Global and Caged Laser Engineering among many others, getting together to discuss the development of low volume vehicles and the key factors that are affecting the industry.
The event will call upon a number of industry experts, such as Tim O’Brien from the Technology Strategy Board, Jerry Hardcastle from the UK Automotive Council and Chris Aylett from the Motorsport Industry Association, to discuss the important topic of stimulating growth through innovation. Other sessions will see world renowned magnesium automotive structures expert Martin Alderman from Magnesium Elektronm, JLR’s aluminium specialist Andrew Hagy and titanium chassis pioneer Phil Squance from Caged Laser Engineering examine the future of vehicle light weighting.
There will also be discussions on the future of low carbon vehicle technologies, which will look at an i-Pad vehicle electronic control system and talk about the future of the electric motorcycle. The day will finish with a special Q & A with a number of iconic niche vehicle brands to discuss how these successful brands were built.
Also on display during the event will be a number of showcase exhibits which will include the winners of the 2012 Niche Vehicle Network’s R&D funding competition including:
- A lightweight titanium structure developed by Caged Laser Engineering (in partnership with Ariel Limited)
- The ongoing development of Morgan Motor Company’s Plus E electric sportscar
- An innovative gearbox prototyping study for an electric motorbike, developed by Agility Global
- A working electric demonstrator with a novel driver control interface, called EV Blue, developed by RDM Automotive
- ‘eDCT’ – an electric duel clutch-less transmission developed by Vocis
Registration is still open for the event, so do let us know if you are attending so we can say hello.
